My winter must haves, this was a tough one to narrow down! But I have picked products that I know really work, ones that I go back to year after year and products that really pack a punch!

First up ‘Antipodes Joyous Protein-Rich Night Replenish Serum’ this little bottle really goes a long way & it’s like giving your skin a giant hug.  Oils from Himalayan goji berry, raspberry seed and New Zealand blackcurrant are a rich source of essential fats – to keep skin nourished and plump. South Pacific hibiscus flower freshens your complexion, while berry fragrance imparts pure joy.  I use this once a week coming into the drier weather or when I feel like my skin needs a real boost of hydration.  I have tried so many different serums and I keep returning to this one year after year.  Suited to normal/dry/very dry skin.

Next is the ‘Elemis Superfood Hydrating Mist’ If you have ever sat in my makeup chair, I have probably given you a very generous spritz of this beauty! It’s my go to for every skin tone.  It’s a 4-in-1 facial mist, it works to tone, prime, hydrate and set makeup (although I use a different spray to set makeup!) It doesn’t leave a tacky residue and leaves my skin feeling really nourished.  I keep it in my bag for a quick top up if I’m feeling dry, also perfect for travelling to keep your skin hydrated on a long flight.

Onto the body, I first used the ‘Beauty Pie Soul Providers’ after hearing rave reviews from literally everyone who tried it.  I have really dry skin for reference and WOW! It 100% lives up to the hype.  It’s a body exfoliator that you put on dry skin before getting wet, massage it all over and then get hop into the shower to rinse it off (be warned your bathroom will be like a beach if you don’t stand on a towel first!) The smell is very zesty and fresh, it leaves your skin feeling silky soft and all those dry areas have suddenly disappeared.  Try it.  Thank me later!

My last  beauty product is the ‘Brazilian Bum Bum Cream’  This one is more of a luxury product, one that you may want to out on your Birthday or Christmas List (hint hint to any of my friends or family reading!) It is hands down the best body moisturizer I have ever used, as soon as you open the bottle it reminds you of being on holiday, it’s a rich cream but not tacky in anyway, it leaves you feeling and smelling like an absolute goddess.  I have introduced a lot of people to this cream who like me can no longer live without it, especially in the winter when your skin need a little lovin!

Lastly my all time favourite candle, if you know me you will know that I generally always have a candle burning in the house. The Plum & Ashby ‘Wild Fig & Saffron’ candle is sublime, if they ever made this into a perfume I’d be the first one to buy it! It has a slightly masculine smell but not over powering in anyway.  It’s a fire lit, red wine in hand kind of candle and to me my winter scent in the house.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my post & I would love to hear what your winter must haves are.

Lots of love

Winter Must Haves

image00025.jpeg

Hello! And welcome to my very first blog post, writing this blog is something I have pondered over for probably a year……. Will anyone read it? Will anyone care what I have to say? Well I’m not sure!  But I do have a lot to say and feel very passionate about sharing my thoughts and genuine feedback on beauty products, makeup, life, fashion and everything else in between. If you’re here a massive WELCOME and thank you for taking the time to read my post.

For my first post I thought I would share a little bit of my story about how I became a makeup artist, what brought me over to England (I’m originally from Northern Ireland) and how I basically left everything and everyone I knew to start from scratch. I hope that my story may strike a cord with some of you and even light a fire within you to start that new business, leave a dead end relationship or pursue a dream you have always had, trust me just DO IT!

I grew up loving makeup, at 16 I assisted at my first wedding and I’ve been hooked pretty much ever since. I trained with Ciara Daly in Ireland and in 2017 trained with Kristina Gasperas in London.  I couldn’t imagine doing anything else and I’m obsessed with all things beauty & making women feel beautiful & empowered in their own skin. This blog will be about my favorite products/tips & tricks/makeup must haves for each season and everything else in between.  To start with I thought I would share my story with you.

When I was 27 my world was turned upside down, I came out of a very toxic long term relationship, at the time all of my friends were either getting married or having babies.  I was totally distraught and thought my life was over.  I thought I would never get over this person, never trust anyone ever again and basically resigned myself to fact I was going to be a spinster with a house full of dogs (how dramatic I know!).  A few months went by and I was totally miserable, I’d lost about two stone and couldn’t face bumping into people I knew to have the same conversation over and over again.  I knew something had to change and I had to get away from everything and everyone I knew, so I did….

I grew up riding horses & decided that I would come over and do two weeks work experience for an Olympic event rider.  I decided that I was going to delete my Facebook & Instagram and go totally off grid.  After a few days I fell in love with England, with the people I met and getting to spend my days on horseback was the best form of therapy anyone could wish for.  I knew very quickly that I would never go back to Ireland and that this place felt very much like home.

Fast forward a year & I met my now husband. I swore I would never get married or trust anyone ever again….. 3 months after meting I knew he was the ONE,  11 months later we got engaged, a year after that got married, fast forward to now and we have two beautiful boys, my mum & dad moved over from Ireland to be close to us and I can honestly say I have never felt happier or more content in my life.

If you have got this far, phew well done! I promise from here on out I won’t ramble on about myself it will be strictly makeup & beauty content from me. If there is anything in particular you would like me to cover, please drop me a message and I will be happy to add it to my list.

Chat to you all again soon, I’ll be chatting about my autumn/winter must haves so watch this space!
